Encontra-se aberto concurso para a atribuição de uma Bolsa de Investigação para Mestre no âmbito do projeto “Unravelling mucin O-glycans and Salmonella SiiE adhesin crosstalk: a promise target for anti-adhesion therapy”, com a Referência “2023.00074.RESTART“, financiado por fundos nacionais através da Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, nas seguintes condições:
One Research Fellowship for MSc holder is open within the scope of the project “Unravelling mucin O-glycans and Salmonella SiiE adhesin crosstalk: a promise target for anti-adhesion therapy”, (reference “2023.00074.RESTART”), funded by national funds through the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, under the following conditions:
1. Área Científica: Bioquímica, Biotecnologia, Química, Engenharia Química ou Bioengenharia.
Research field: Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Chemistry Engineering, Bioengineering.
2. Requisitos de admissão: Candidatos possuindo grau de mestre em Bioquímica, Biotecnologia, Química e áreas afins.
Outros requisitos: Forte motivação para investigação e boa capacidade de trabalho; hábito de trabalho em grupos de investigação; experiência em ressonância magnética nuclear (RMN), experiência laboratorial em experiência em expressão e purificação de proteínas; disponibilidade imediata; excelentes conhecimentos de língua inglesa falada e escrita
2. Admission requirements: Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry and related fields.
Other requirements: Strong motivation for research and good work ability; Experience in collaborative research groups; experience in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), laboratory experience in protein expression and purification; Immediate availability; excellent knowledge of spoken and written English.
3. Plano de trabalhos: O(a) Bolseiro(a) irá desempenhar atividade no âmbito do projeto 2023.00074.RESTART. O plano de trabalho envolve:
1) Otimização da expressão e purificação de proteínas de Salmonela para estudos de reconhecimento molecular.
2) Estudo por RMN, combinado com outras técnicas, do reconhecimento molecular de açucares presentes no hospedeiro usando as proteínas produzidas na atividade 1.
3. Work plan: The candidate of research fellowship shall be performing activities in the scope of the project 2023.00074.RESTART. The work plan involves:
1) Optimization of expression and purification of Salmonella lectins/adhesins for molecular recognition studies.
2) Molecular recognition of host-glycans against the recombinant lectins produced in activity 1 by NMR combined with other techniques.
4. 4. 5. Local de trabalho: O trabalho será desenvolvido no Departamento de Química da Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, sob a orientação científica da Doutora Helena Coelho.
5. Workplace: The work is carried out at the Department of Chemistry, NOVA School of Science and Technology, NOVA University Lisbon, under the scientific guidance of Doctor Helena Coelho.
6. Duração da bolsa: A bolsa tem a duração de 6 meses, com início previsto para o mês de Março de 2024. O contrato de bolsa poderá ser, eventualmente, renovado até ao limite de execução do projecto (máximo 18 meses).
6. Fellowship duration: The fellowship for 6 months, starting in March 2024. The fellowship contract may eventually be renewed up to the end of the project (maximum 18 months).
7. Valor do subsídio de manutenção mensal: O montante da bolsa corresponde a 1.199.64€, conforme tabela de valores das bolsas atribuídas diretamente pela FCT, I.P. no País, sendo o pagamento efetuado mensalmente por transferência bancária.
7. Monthly maintenance allowance: The net monthly allowance is 1.199.64€, according to the table of values of the scholarships awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in Portugal. Payment will be made monthly by bank transfer.
8. Métodos de seleção: Mérito científico (40%), a adequação do perfil do candidato para o projeto (30%), a motivação e a experiência profissional relevante para o desenvolvimento do projeto (30%). Caso se justifique, os dois melhores candidatos selecionados na primeira seriação serão chamados para efetuar entrevista, sendo depois classificados com a ponderação 50% (classificação primeira seriação) e 50% (classificação entrevista).
8. Selection methods: Scientific merit (40%), the suitability of the candidate's profile for the project (30%), motivation and relevant professional experience for the development of the project (30%). Where necessary, the two best ranked candidates in the first stage of the selection, will be invited for an interview, and in this case, the final selection of candidate will be on the basis of 50% weight on combined score obtained in the first stage of the selection, and 50% weight on assessment in the interview.

10. Forma de publicitação/notificação dos resultados:
Os resultados finais da avaliação propostos pelo júri, serão notificados aos candidatos através de correio eletrónico, no prazo máximo de 90 dias úteis após a data limite para a submissão de candidaturas, podendo estes aceder às atas e à lista de ordenação, e pronunciar-se no prazo de 10 dias úteis sobre o projeto de decisão em sede de audiência prévia dos interessados, nos termos do Código do Procedimento Administrativo. No final do prazo fixado para audiência dos interessados e na ausência de qualquer resposta, a lista de ordenação converter-se-á em definitiva. Da decisão final, poderão os candidatos interpor reclamação no prazo de 15 dias úteis (para o endereço de email utilizado para a notificação), ou recurso para o órgão executivo máximo da entidade financiadora no prazo de 30 dias úteis após a notificação da decisão final, endereçado à Direção da FCT/UNL através do endereço de correio eletrónico lds@fct.unl.pt.
10. Form of publicity/notification of results: The list of admitted and excluded candidates and the final list of classification will be sent by electronic mail with receipt of delivery to all candidates, within a maximum period of 90 working days after the deadline for the submission of applications. Candidates who want to apply for effective review, shall do it within 10 working days, under the terms of the Administrative Procedure Code in force in Portugal. At the end of the period set for the effective review and in the absence of any response, the rank list will become definitive. Candidates who want to file a complaint, shall do it within 15 working days (to the email address used for notification), or appeal to the School Board, within 30 working days (to the email address lds@fct.unl.pt).
11. Prazo de candidatura e forma de apresentação das candidaturas: O concurso encontra-se aberto de 29 de janeiros 2024 a 26 de fevereiro de 2024.
11. Application deadline and procedures: This call is open from January 29th to February 26th, 2024.
As candidaturas devem ser formalizadas, obrigatoriamente, através do envio de e-mail para a Doutora Helena Coelho (E-mail: h.coelho@fct.unl.pt), mencionando a referência da bolsa “2023.00074.RESTART” no assunto do e-mail.
A candidatura deve consistir num único ficheiro PDF, incluindo:
a) Carta de motivação;
b) Curriculum vitae detalhado (indicando endereço de email e contacto telefónico);
c) Documentos comprovativos dos graus académicos obtidos e com as classificações em todas as disciplinas realizadas;
d) Declaração atualizada comprovativa da situação profissional do(a) candidato(a), com indicação da natureza do vínculo, funções e carga horária letiva em média anual, se aplicável, podendo substituí-la por declaração sob compromisso de honra, caso não exerça qualquer atividade profissional ou de prestação de serviços;
e) Declaração de honra atestando o compromisso de inscrição num doutoramento ou num curso não conferente de grau académico integrado no projeto educativo de uma instituição de ensino superior, caso venha a ser selecionado(a) no concurso e aceite a bolsa que lhe for atribuída.
Applications must be formalized by sending an e-mail to Doctor Helena Coelho (E-mail: h.coelho@fct.unl.pt), mentioning the reference of the fellowship reference “2023.00074.RESTART” in the subject of the e-mail.
The application must consist of a single PDF file including:
a) Motivation letter;
b) Detailed curriculum vitae (including email address and telephone contact);
c) Documents proving the earned degrees with grades for all the completed subjects;
d) Up-to-date declaration attesting to the candidate's professional status, and the nature of the employment relationship, duties and the annual average teaching load, if applicable. If the candidate doesn’t engage in any
professional activity or in any provision of services, a declaration of honor can replace the above mentioned declaration;
e) Declaration of honor attesting to the commitment to enroll in a doctorate or in a non-academic degree integrated in the educational project of a higher education institution, if selected for the fellowship and accepted the award.
