Clara Gomes, researcher at LAQV, NOVA FCT, participated in the episode 'Green Chemistry in the Pharmaceutical Industry' of the RTP2 programme Biosfera, where she discussed the role of mechanochemistry and the impact of the European project IMPACTIVE 'Innovative Mechanochemical Processes to synthesise green ACTIVE pharmaceutical ingredients' in promoting more sustainable and efficient processes in the pharmaceutical industry. The project aims to produce three families of active pharmaceutical ingredients using mechanochemistry as the main synthetic strategy. This offers an innovative approach, eliminating toxic solvents and reducing energy consumption - a real revolution on the way to more responsible science! The consortium includes several Portuguese researchers, namely four researchers from LAQV - Clara Gomes, Ana Rita Duarte and Alexandre Paiva (NOVA FCT) and Mafalda Sarraguça (FFUP), two researchers from CQE-IST-UL - Vânia André and Teresa Duarte, as well as postdoctoral researchers - Ana Carvalho, Mani Outis and Jorge Dourado.
