The Synthesis&Catalysis 2024 Workshop took place at NOVA FCT - Sala Ágora, on the 24th and 25th of October, and was attended by 80 participants from national and international universities, as well as several participants from national companies. At this event, participants had the opportunity to explore innovative topics in electrochemistry and flow chemistry. These enabling technologies are essential for the development of sustainable chemical processes and were addressed by internationally recognized experts in the field.
Guest speakers included Prof. Kevin Lam from the University of Greenwich, UK; Prof. Mariola Tortosa, from the Autonomous University of Madrid, Spain; Prof. Michael C. Willis, University of Oxford, UK; and Prof. Jean-Christophe Monbaliu, from the University of Liège, Belgium.
The workshop was organized by the Committee chaired by Prof. Maria Manuel Marques, from the Chemistry Department at NOVA FCT, together with students Ana Rita Reis, Ana Cláudia Negrão, Beatriz Dedeiras, Catarina Cipriano and Nuno Viduedo.
The workshop featured 21 oral communications and several posters that were presented by national and international researchers and students. The event was sponsored by the Portuguese Chemical Society and the companies Labor Spirit, Hovione, Dias de Sousa, ABCR and MTBrandão.
Hovione sponsored the award for best oral communication, which was awarded to Simone C. Fernandes, from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, and the award for best poster, awarded to Dominik Gabriel Jammal, from HyLab - Green Hydrogen Collaborative Laboratory.
